We are often told to focus on the results, visualize them as if they have already happened. I have done this myself and agree it is useful.

There is a chinese proverb however that I relate to “Heat is needed to cook rice.” Action is necessary to reach our goals. Yet, often we mistake being busy for being effective. So first we must be effective, doing what needs to be done. Some get lost in the most efficient way of doing things and procrastinate on doing anything. Before we can be efficient we must be effective.

So look around you today and ask, “What is the most effective thing I need to do?” Don’t get side tracked by the easiest or the most fun. There is no problem if the task includes both ease and fun. It must however make a significant difference in what is truly important to you.

If you don’t know what is truly important then, that is the first thing you need to do - find out!

Three Keys to Success

Combining business and personal coaching for life balance has always seemed natural to me. However it has taken over 10 years to realize this vision in my practice. In my early days of coaching I was told by my trainers to be as focused as a laser, to do one thing and one thing only. Well, it made sense but was unrewarding and impractical. I enjoy both Business and Personal coaching and felt they were interlinked.

Invariably if I picked one aspect of the two to focus on in a conversation and said I was a personal coach in reply to someones question of “What do you do?”, they would often respond “Oh I need a business coach”. So next time I would choose the opposite reply as a business coach with similar disconnecting results. Today I simply say both. Our life’s work and our life’s play are interlinked. Each supporting and giving meaning to the other.

PathofHappiness.com now represents my year of photography, pilgrimage, retreat and travel in Asia.

Any time is the right time to begin a life change, upgrade or transformation. This work does not have to be drastic or scary to be effective. It is simply part of our life’s work. It seems though many people are waiting for the perfect time to get a “Round TOIT”.
